The 15th IEEE India Council International Conference (INDICON 2018) is being hosted by Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore, during December 16 – 18, 2018. Nestled in a verdant green campus of approximately 400 acres, in the foothills of the Boluvampatti range of the Western Ghats, Amrita has been steadily and quickly climbing the ladder of academic excellence, being ranked as the best private University in India and eighth overall (NIRF 2018). From its humble beginnings as a School of Engineering in 1994, with 130 students, Amrita is today spread over five campuses, with over 12000 students and 1500 faculty members, covering the entire gamut of educational disciplines, with more than 120 programs offered at different levels. The Coimbatore campus is home to the administrative headquarters of the Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham with around 6000 students and 600 faculty members.  The lush greenery on the sprawling campus is due to the massive tree-planting and forestation activities as well as water conservation and other eco-friendly measures implemented on the campus.

Amrita actively encourages research especially of the multi-disciplinary type, through various programmes and Centres. It has tieups and MoUs with a large number of internationally renowned Universities,  facilitating interactions across various specialisations.  Amrita faculty members and researchers have authored more than 150 books and 300 book chapters and published more than 3000 papers in reputed National and International Journals. Amrita has filed applications for  more than 50 patents based on the work carried out by its faculty and researchers.
